The whole 12 month block of the month pattern is sent right away - that way you can make it at whatever pace suits you in this crazy year. Choose a focus fabric (like the Mammoth plaid flannel), pull colors from there, and let the hygge begin! Modern + traditional quilt oozing with cozy!
This has been a personal project for me. I am ALWAYS the cold person in the room, dressed in the warmest woolies, permanently stationed by the fire with my hot bevvie and a good book. It’s the way I survive midwest winters. A few years ago, I realized there was a word that encompasses my approach to the months of November - April. Hygge. It was automatic that I needed to make the COZIEST quilt possible to honor it.
HYGGE (pronounced “HOO GA”) is a Danish word that means coziness. A calm comfortable time with people you love. A complete absence of frustrations, or anything emotionally overwhelming, often enjoyed with good food and drinks, warm blankets, and candlelight.
Hygge is often associated with nature, arts and crafts, simple pleasures, and good company. Quilts and hygge go hand in hand. This quilt pattern pictures concepts of a hygge lifestyle in a fun sampler that will keep us warm all year long. For extra cuddles, my quilt is all flannel on the front and minky on the back. :)
When I started working on this quilt, never in a million years, could I guessed what 2020-2021 would bring to the world. These Hygge concepts seem to be one of the things we have been most heavily leaning upon in a world of quarantines and social distancing. Or least, I know I have. I hope this quilt not only represents warm and calming concepts, but also reminds us that we will once again be able to bring the social aspects of good company back into our lives. For now, stay healthy friends and sew on!

COMPLETE SAMPLER PATTERN The Hygge Sampler is set up as a 12-Month Block of the Month pattern, but it may be worked at your own pace as well. When you purchase the pattern, the complete pattern (Months 1-12, including the setting pattern), comes in one file.
