Sister Sampler Quilts at Quilt Market

I haven't said much yet about my new book, Sister Sampler Quilts, here on the blog.  It comes out in December and I didn't want to tell you about it too early since there would be quite a wait until it starts to ship.  But October has snuck by us now, and the release date is creeping near!

I'll be at Quilt Market this week sharing all about Sister Sampler Quilts.  If you're going to be there, I'd love to see you!  I'll be speaking at a Schoolhouse session for the book and sharing what all is inside.  And if you're interested in a copy, I'll be doing 3 different book signings throughout the weekend.  Here is where you can find me:

Friday 10/23 12:10pm  Room 351c Schoolhouse Session

Saturday 10/24 2:00pm F&W Booth #634 Book Signing

Sunday 10/25 10:30am E.E. Schenck Booth #2508 Book Signing
Sunday 10/25 1:00pm Brewer Booth 2842 Book Signing

So grab your Sister and join me for lots of SISTERS, SAMPLERS and SASS!

Bella Maiden Quilt Pattern

Sometimes making a little quilt block is just not enough.  Sometimes it need to be supersized!  This quilt, Bella Maiden, is just that.  It's a large version of the Old Maid's Puzzle block constructed using the classic basic - the half square triangle.  I absolutely love seeing traditional blocks given center stage.  And by adding the HSTs into the mix, the quilt becomes a lot more interesting when you get to blend and mix the prints and solids into the overall shapes of the quilt.
Bella Maiden's finished size is 64" x 64" with an individual block size of 32" x 32".  They're big!

I showed you earlier this week that I played around with Gatekeeper and Fig Tree's Farmhouse line.  I decided to do the same with Bella Maiden.  It really softens it's edge.  And I rather like it - I would love to see this quilt made up in this line.  I am really smitten with Farmhouse.  It looks great with these modern patterns!
And this is another version in one of Pam Kitty's lines using only 2 colors.  It changes the look a little when you concentrate on two main colors.  This one would be so sweet for a girl.

I hope you like her! Bella Maiden is available as PDF and Hard Copy Print.

Gatekeeper Quilt Pattern

I just love this quilt.  It's simple and classic, yet has just a teeny modern twist to it.  Gatekeeper is a quilt based on those gorgeous Irish Chain designs that adds just a small modern element with the sashing lines that extend to the edge of the quilt.  Really though, you could make this quilt with just about any style of fabric and it will always be stunning.

For once, this truly IS an "easy" quilt.  No triangles or other fussy pieces to play with.  Nope, just simple squares and rectangles.  This whole quilt breaks down into 3 basic blocks, which makes it simple to put together with strip piecing to boot!
Gatekeeper's finished size is 70" x 70" with an individual block size of 10" x 10".

I wanted to play around with some fabrics to show how this quilt could definitely be made into one with a traditional feel.  Here is a sketch of Gatekeeper done in Fig Tree's Farmhouse line.  Isn't it fantastic?

And this is another version in Michael Miller's Happy Tones line using blues and greens.  So fun!

I hope you like it!
